A tiny corner of my studio filled with various bits & pieces that will eventually become jewelry.
SCORE! This is about 15 feet of folded up copper valley from a re-roofing done near my home. This will take several hours to unfold and put to use.
The endless variety is obvious here as I set forth to cut up some incredible moments to hopefully make even more incredible jewelry.
They survived the Cutting!
Compare these finished pieces to the previous photo to see the amazing before and after.
The textures here are part of what inspired Metal Stories. I really cannot express how completely compelling it is to be around this humble material.
Notice the wire and tubing as well as the fabulous old tin containers I am using to store my copper roofing pieces.
...and yes. There is a section of this photo that is available as a photo. Look in Gallery Four for the piece called, "bent".
Cutting into the sections for this design is the most breath holding experience in my studio. The surfaces are very volatile and the pressure of the snips can unexpectedly remove beautiful elements that completely take the relationship out of the piece. I then end up with three sections for other designs, but a lot of hard planning, time energy, and amazing beauty is lost.
This design is called "Ceremonial Kimono" and was orginally sold exclusively to Nieman Marcus when they were representing my work in the late 90"s
If a picture is worth a thousand words my wearable art jewelry is worth at least as much. Please feel free to visit by clicking the logo on the top of this page. Although I do not sell the jewelry on-line, it is a facsinating site to explore!
